Habitat For Humanity Grand Traverse Region
Our partnership with Habitat began many years ago when NWUCC had the dream of providing housing for people who may not otherwise have the chance. That led to NWUCC raising funds to develop the 14 -unit housing development that now includes the New Waves Community House. After NWUCC received a land grant from the Michigan Conference of the United Church of Christ, 6 lots were donated to Habitat. The other 7 lots were sold to Habitat in 2024. The New Waves Community House is part of the New Waves neighborhood which exists because of our partnership and the great work of Habitat for Humanity GTR.
COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS
The New Waves Community isn’t just people who get together at the New Waves Community House, although that’s an important part of who we are. We’re part of our larger community and the partnerships we make with other groups working toward improving our basic values are the center of who we are.
The SALT Coalition (Spiritual Activists Leading Together)
Our partnership with The SALT Coalition includes hosting their monthly Nourish get-togethers at the New Waves Community House.
