The Purpose of Worship

Our community is at a crossroads. We do not have a pastor, nor do we have a traditional church building. The New Waves Housing Project was underway and our Pastor would have a parsonage there when it was finished. For years we held Sunday worship without either of those things, using a local hall to gather and bringing in various speakers. We had pastors who were generous enough to donate services each month, and other weeks we brought in local non-profits to teach us about what was happening in our community and how we could give back. 

Our building is nearly complete. We still do not have a pastor. 

Do we need one? 

What could a weekly lay-led gathering look like, and how can it be a source of support and comfort in our lives? What can our resources do for people who are missing a sense of community in their lives?
